Is your device getting the latest Android version soon? If it's an HTC, among others, it likely is.
"HTC's most recent models, the HTC One M8, One M9, and One M9+ are all predicted to be included in the Android 6.0 wait list," Gospel Herald noted. "Jeff Gordon, Senior Global Online Communications Manager at HTC Corp., previously posted a tweet confirming the arrival of Android Marshmallow on the new HTC One M9 and M9+."
"Good news! The HTC One M9 and M9+ will be updated to Android M, with more devices to be announced soon," Gordon's tweet read.
This bit of update was confirmed by HTC's U.S. chief, Mo Versi, in a tweet response to a user's query about the matter.
The actual dates of the updates have not yet been announced, although it is allegedly believed that Google will release Android 6.0 Marshmallow this month or in October through the LG Nexus 5 and the Huawei Nexus 6.
"A few weeks or months after that, premium flagship handsets from other companies will follow suit and will most likely include the HTC One M9, One M9+, as well as the LG G4," Gospel Herald said.
The upcoming OS update was previewed back in May during the company's I/O conference, The Verge said. However, it kept the update's name under wraps to keep everyone on their toes and following developments regarding the OS.
"Android Marshmallow includes a simpler approach to permissions (while giving users more granular control over what information apps can access), Google's new Android Pay mobile wallet platform, USB Type-C support, and a number of tweaks and improvements throughout the operating system," the tech news site explained. "It succeeds Android 5.0 Lollipop, which brought significant user interface and visual changes to the software last year."
Further, it can be recalled that the HTC One M9 is the new name of the HTC Aero smartphone. The renaming "could be HTC's attempt to make up for the lackluster sales of the current One M9," Ecumenical News observed.
"The HTC Aero or One M9 will reportedly be a high-end device and will sport a premium look. The device will be thin and have a full metal body. It is also said to come in two colors, gold and dark grey," the site went on to say. "The yet-to-be announced smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a 1440 x 2560 screen resolution. It will also feature a 2.5D curved glass display, protected by a Gorilla Glass 4 panel."
