Excited for the new Android 5.0 Lollipop? Buckle up and read the latest updates about the much-awaited Android L. 

So what are the things that we know about the Android Lollipop? According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the Android 5.0 Lollipop is the "13th major version of Android." However, this is the first under Sundar Pichai, known as Google's senior vice president and Chief Executive Officer Larry Page's confidant, it added. 

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Google broke the news to everyone by means of a lollipop statue that has just recently appeared joining other statues of ice cream sandwich, chocolate doughnut, and others in Google's campus in Mountain Vew, California.  

So now, what smartphones are going to get the new update? 

Hardware Zone listed some of the phones that will get the new update which includes the Nexus 6 and 9. Hardware Zone cited a report by Android Tips and Hacks. 

Android Tips and Hacks revealed that the Nexus 5 will be one of the first devices to get the new Android version. Nexus 5 users, Android Tips and Hacks said, can start to get the update as early as October 17. 

Other Nexus phones that will get the new Lollipop update are Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 7 2012, Nexus 10, and Nexus 4, it revealed. 

Also to get the upgrade are "all current Google Play Edition phones," Android Tips and Hacks said. Some HTC devices will also get the update, Android Tips and Hacks said.

The HTC One M8 and the HTC One M7 will reportedly get the update by next year. Android Tips and Hacks said this has already been confirmed. Some other HTC One Mini devices from last year and this year will also get the update, it added. 

Android Tips and Hacks said that there have been speculations that some Samsung devices will also get an update but this is not the Lollipop update. It cited a leaked photo that showed a list of Samsung devices that will get the alleged updated Android 4.4.4 KitKat. bgr.com supports this claim, also releasing the leaked list of Samsung phones. 

The Samsung phones that will reportedly get the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update are Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Samsung Galaxy Grad 2 Duos, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE. Samsung has not confirmed any of these. 

As for the Lollipop update, no announcements have been made. But Android Tips and Hacks said in their post that "it's safe to say that all major handsets from 2014 will be updated." It also named some Samsung phones that will probably get the update. These are Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. 

Motorola devices that are expected to get the update are Moto X (first and second generation), Moto G (first and second generation), Moto G 4G, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini, Android Tips and Hacks said. 

Although no official announcement has been released by LG, Android Tips and Hacks said that it is expected that the LG G3, LG G2 Pro, and LG G2 to get the Lollipop update. Meanwhile, Android Tips and Hacks said that Sony has already confirmed that the "entire premium Z series" will get the Lollipop update.

The Z series includes Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, it added. The report said that the devices will probably get the update in 2015. 

Android Tips and Hacks said Android One devices such as the Micromax Canvas A1 and Spice Dream UNO are also likely to get updated.
