Although Google has not said a word about the Nexus 5 (2015) during the I/O developer conference, buzz about the upcoming device's release and specs continue to circulate among tech fans and pundits.

One of the recent ones is about the release timeline of the said smartphone, which has been rumored to be in the fall this year (October to December).

"Google announced Android L, which later came to be known as Android 5.0 Lollipop, at its Google I/O 2014 event before the release of the Motorola Nexus 6 in November. So, the announcement of Android M at the Google I/O 2015 could be taken as a hint that the launch of Nexus 5 (2015) is not far off," International Business Times said.

"The search-engine giant is tight-lipped on its upcoming device, but several reports have claimed that it will be a variant of the 2013 LG Nexus 5 and to be named the Nexus 5 (2015)," the site added.

Meanwhile, Android Police speculated that the rumored LG Bullhead "would basically be the 2015 Nexus 5."

The said device " will have a 5.2-inch screen and a battery in the neighborhood of 2700mAh."

"The capacity is not completely decided, but neither is the ARM chip. LG is currently planning on a Snapdragon 808 in this device," the tech news outlet went on to say.

Considering that the projected release date of the rumored Nexus 5 (2015) will be after, it's highly likely that the said model will come equipped with Android M and may be thus capable of fingerprint authentications. It is anticipated to "include fingerprint sensors and USB-C ports, as Nexus handsets usually offer developers and users access to all the new features that Google includes in new Android releases," Ecumenical News noted.

"The announcement of Android M at the Google I/O 2015 means that both the new Nexus phones are likely to be released in October," the site predicted.

Currently, Nexus 5 users can update the device with the Android M developer preview. However, Google has stopped selling this model, although stocks of the said device may still be found with carrier and retail partners of the company.

"Searches for the older model on Google's new hardware store show that the Nexus 5 is no longer available for purchase direct from Google," The Verge observed. "The effective retirement of the Nexus 5 comes as Google tweaks its storefront to separate hardware and digital products."
