Reports have it that "Kingdom Hearts 3" may be arriving later this year. Could this be true?

If you ask the voice behind Goofy, the answer is yes.

"Bill Farmer, who has voiced the character Goofy for years in both the Kingdom Hearts series and various cartoons, says that as far as he's been told, the much-anticipated sequel is due out later this year. He also claims his voice recording is already finished," IGN said.

Farmer also said that the recording had been done for the last couple of years. Despite this, however, he cannot remember specific lines and would not know about specific features of the game as he had his lines done even before he had any visual reference.

Since developer Square Enix has remained mum about the release date of the game and has not confirmed Farmer's confidence of a 2015 launch, there is no guarantee that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will indeed be unleashed this year. However, game director Tetsuya Nomura seemed to hint of the game's readiness for public consumption by saying that the end part of the "Kingdom Hearts HD Remix 2.5" trailer shown at the 2014 E3 convention is actually "the opening sequence for 'Kingdom Hearts 3,'" Christian Today noted.

"The new game will continue where the Dream Drop Distance game left off," the site. "The characters in the previous title, namely Donald Duck, Goofy, Riku, and King Mickey, will be back to help Sora find the seven guardians of light as well as stop the antagonist's plans."

"The plot reportedly continues with the Key to Return Hearts as a central and important piece in the inevitable final confrontation between Sora and Master Xehanort," it added.

Meanwhile, Kotaku quoted "Kingdom Hearts 3" co-director and game designer Tai Yasue as saying that the developers have been "working on 3 and 2.5 at the same time" and that doing so helped the team ensure that KH3 would be a truly enhanced iteration of the game series.

"In a way, we've learned what was good about our previous Kingdom Hearts [games] by making 2.5," he explained. "For 3, we want to evolve it in a new direction, but at the same time we don't want to change what is fundamental about 'Kingdom Hearts.' We're hiring new people continuously, so they are learning about 'Kingdom Hearts' through making 2.5. It's a good learning experience."
