Recent reports are saying that some Moto G users are already getting a taste of the 5.1 version of the Android L Lollipop update. Android Geeks has recently spotted some evidence supporting this claim. In its report, it cited a post by Google Plus user Damian Junior. Here is the complete post of Damian Junior:
"Hello friends, Good Afternoon! Today my friend, who works at Motorola, sent me these photos in the morning and said they are already testing the update 5.1.0 for the XT1033, he said, he already received [his] smartphone with android 5.1.0 of the company, it practically confirms that Motorola will update the Moto G (first generation) and his superiors to 5.1.0, he also said that this [is] very good upgrade and has no bugs, he commented be thinking about upload the image to the users, but the 'number of the version' is unique for each 5.1.0 tester like it, he can not post this because there could be complications for him, if the company found out, then as asked me to postasse information and here they are!"
Along with the post, Damian Junior attached some of the photos of the Moto G running the 5.1 Lollipop version. Here are some of them: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
The International Business Times noted that the Moto G in the photos is an XT1033 model. That model is known for its dual-SIM feature. In some of the photos Damian shared, it has been noticed that the 5.1 version of the Lollipop update has result in some changes in the Dialer color for each SIM.
Motorola on its official Twitter account said that its Moto X device is also set to get the update. Here is what it said, "Moto X (1st Gen) will get L, but chipset requires more effort. We're working to deliver satisfactory experience performance."
Note that you can always check for updates manually. Just go to Settings > About phone > Software updates, and finally choose Check now. As always, the update would be sent via OTA. It will roll out in stages.
In a related development, it seems that our earlier report on the Nexus devices getting the 5.1 update proves to be true. This is confirmed by the post of Artem Russakovskii which said, "Here's a rumor from one of our solid sources. The Lollipop MR1 (Android 5.1) will start rolling out to Nexus devices starting with the N7 (probably 2013) this week, barring anything unexpected."
Russakovskii added: "This release is supposed to make Android buttery smooth again, which is something you may have already spotted from videos of Android One devices running it. You're going to want to install it...Google's been having some issues with battery life, which explains the delay, and unless they're already resolved, could possibly delay the rollout. But later this week is the info I have right now."
