Both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 have been big hits even before either console has gotten a release date, as gamers have been snapping up any preorder offers they can find for the next-gen consoles. Now, it appears as though one more source of preorders for the Xbox One has reached maximum capacity. This means that gamers who have dropped the ball and waited this late are be running out of options of where to find preorders for the two consoles.

Aaron Greenberg, the chief of staff for the Xbox, has taken to Twitter to brag that retailer GameStop is no longer accepting preorders for the Xbox One, due to the high demand for the product:

"Demand was through the roof, so preorders stopped for now. Get on the GameStop first to know list for preorder updates."

While GameStop may get an additional allowance of Xbox Ones and PlayStation 4's (which GameStop also ran out of earlier this month), for now it appears that another major chain has run out of next-gen consoles for gamers to reserve, leaving those left out with few choices for securing their own.

The console became available for preorder soon after they were given prices at E3 in June. This lead to the biggest preorder rush on Amazon in the website's history. So where can gamers still preorder the Xbox One or PlayStation 4? Best Buy has run out of the Xbox One, but still have some PlayStation 4 bundles available. Target is still offering preorders for both consoles on their online store. Amazon has both consoles as well, however the Xbox One only has the standard edition available, not the day-one edition of the console. Gamers can also check their independent game stores to see if they still offer the next-gen consoles as well.

The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have traded the top spot for preorders several times over the past few weeks. This is due to a variety of factors such as the amount of SKU's Sony and Microsoft have offered gamers for preorder, as well as Microsoft's changes to their unpopular used games and DRM policies. This has lead to both console's preorder numbers to shift and change quite rapidly.

Gamers have been warned in the past that supply for the consoles will most likely not be able to meet the demand gamers have for the consoles, so anyone still considering preordering the consoles must do it sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting which console ultimately is able to pull in the most preorders before both consoles launch later this year. The Xbox One will be out sometime in November, and Sony has yet to put a more definite launch window for the PlayStation 4 as of yet.
