The original Metal Gear Solid was one of the most highly rated games for the original PlayStation, and is fondly remembered as one of the greatest games of all time. Now, the creator of the series, Hideo Kojima, is looking to introduce the game to a new generation of video game fans by remaking the game using the brand-new Fox engine that was used to create Metal Gear Solid 5.

Kojima revealed this bit of news during E3 earlier this month in a roundtable discussion attended by GameReactor. When one person at the event asked about remaking the first two Metal Gear Solid games, Kojima revealed that a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid is already in the planning stages. The remake depends on finding a suitable studio to develop the title.

Fans of the Metal Gear Solid series most likely remember the critically acclaimed remake of Metal Gear Solid that was done by Silicon Knights in 2004. In addition, Platinum Games was brought in by Kojima Productions to handle Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a spinoff of the main series that was released earlier in 2013.

It will be interesting to see how Metal Gear Solid would be updated for modern audiences, as Kojima stated that some of the game's mechanics would have to be updated. Also in question is what platforms the game would potentially be released on. Would a remake of Metal Gear Solid be ready while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have some life left in the system, or would the remake be on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One? Would this be a downloadable title, or would Kojima have a full release planned for the 15 year old game? Until this remake is officially confirmed we will just have to wait and see if this legendary game gets another chance to wow gamers.
