Final Fantasy 14 was a disaster of epic proportions when it was released in its first form. The game was so broken that Square Enix eventually pulled the game and shut down its servers and decided to completely overhaul the game from the ground up. This reboot eventually became Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, which now has a release date. Both the PlayStation 3 and PC version of the game will be out on Aug. 27, according to IGN.
The attempt to bring back scorned Final Fantasy 14 fans with an all new game will come at a discounted price compared to new games. The PC version will cost $29.99, while the PlayStation 3 rendition will cost $39.99. The game will also carry a subscription fee of $12.99 a month. While players who did not buy the original Final Fantasy 14 do not need that game to play A Realm Reborn, but those who own the PC version of the original Final Fantasy 14 can download A Realm Reborn for free, Eurogamer claims.
Those who pre-order the game will get some special bonuses, including special access to the game's servers ahead of the official release, along with a non-combat Cait Sith pet and a Mog Cap for the user's character.
Square Enix also announced an Collector's Edition of the game, which is available for $79.99 for the PlayStation 3 and $69.99 for the PC version. This includes an 80-page art book, a bonus disk of cinematic content that tells the story of the realm being reborn, the game's soundtrack, five exclusive art cards and a security token for securing the player's account. In addition, several in-game bonuses come with the Collector's Edition of the game.
