Iman Shumpert recently welcomed his new baby daughter on Dec. 16, 2015. The more interesting news was that his fiancée delivered in the bathroom of their home with the Cleveland Cavaliers guard assisting the entire time.

Singer Teyana Taylor, Shumpert’s fiancée, took a photo of their newborn baby and posted it on Instagram. The caption explained how Junie, their baby, was delivered at 6:42 a.m. on Wednesday. She explained that she did not know that she was already in labor until she felt the baby’s head.

Shumpert was available and helped deliver the baby with his bare hands. He was communicating with an emergency operator on the phone. The ambulance arrived five minutes after.

“Welcome Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl.” Teyana wrote.

ESPN reported that Shumpert used a pair of red headphones to tie the umbilical cord of the baby until paramedics arrived at the scene. The baby was not supposed to be out until mid-January 2016.

It was perfect timing for the couple, considering that Shumpert was available after having to leave the previous game due to a groin injury. He will also be skipping the next Cavs game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He last missed three months of playing due to wrist surgery.

Shumpert and the singer were engaged in November 2015. The NBA guard proposed with a ruby engagement ring after Teyana’s baby shower.

Coach David Blatt joked that Shumpert should be called “Dr. Shumpert” after successfully delivering his baby girl. He congratulated the couple afterwards.

Although Shumpert certainly has the skills to be an ob-gyn, his playing status is still uncertain. His performance has been lackluster in the past several games. Blatt stated that the guard needs to undergo re-evaluation.

Blatt explained that due to recent events, they allowed him to do other important things. He will be checked eventually and they will make a decision regarding his court activities. He will certainly be down for a number of days, according to Blatt.

ABC News reported that Shumpert is playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second year, after having been traded from the New York Knicks. He arrived at Quicken Loans Arena on Dec. 17, 2015 before the Cavs’ game against the Thunder and was congratulated by friends and teammates outside the team locker room.

More news and updates regarding Iman Shumpert and his family are expected soon.
