NBA Draft 2014 Mock & Prospects: Jabari Parker Expects Andrew Wiggins to be Top Pick
Jabari Parker, one of the "Big Three" in the 2014 NBA Draft, expressed his sentiments that he expects to be chosen second.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be picking first in the draft and it is still uncertain which player they are most interested in, considering that they are working out deals to possibly acquire Kevin Love or superstar LeBron James. The Cavs are also banking on the possibility of adding Dante Exum from their lineup and invited the guard to workout in Cleveland straight from Australia.
Andrew Wiggins is also a highly anticipated pick in the draft. He said, "I haven't heard anything. [Being selected No. 1] would be like a dream come true." Wiggins was less concerned about which team he would be playing for. "I'd rather be the No. 1 pick than really worry about where I'm going. I feel like I'll go to any team and I'll play just as hard. I don't really care where I go - I'm going to try and do my best, play hard for the fans, play hard for the organization. And being a competitor, I would want to go No. 1, just to have that label." He concluded, "I think I'll be a star wherever I go," writes Bleacher Report.
In a report by Yahoo! Sports, the former Duke forward said that he expects Andrew Wiggins to be the No. 1 overall pick. The Milwaukee Bucks already said that they would prefer him in their No. 2 pick on June 26, 2014 if he is not selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that won the top pick in the lottery. According to Parker, the Cavs did not give any statement or show any sign that they were interested in him.
He said, I have some comfort level with the [Bucks], especially with them just telling me... 'We want you' I didn't get any real answer from the Cavs. I'm just going with what I'm certain with."
Parker shared that one advantage in playing in Milwaukee is that he is closer to his home in Chicago. However, he is not completely dismissing the possibility of being selected by the Cavs. He said, "It would be a great opportunity too. Anywhere that I'm going, I'm going to be there for a reason. If they're going to pick me then I'm probably going to go on that stage and accept that hat."
According to Dime Mag, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking forward to the return of LeBron James, which means that Parker would be a better pick over Wiggins to work with the superstar.
