NBA Trade Rumors & News 2014: LeBron James Leaves Miami for Free Agency? [Rumors]
LeBron James is in a predicament again. The Miami Heat recently lost to the San Antonio Spurs, ending LeBron's dream of becoming a 3-peat champion. He is also bound to hit the free agency market in the summer.
LeBron initially left his hometown Cleveland to start winning championships in Miami, who used to be under the banner of Dwyane Wade. However, Wade is already in the twilight of his NBA career and it is unlikely that the "Big Three" of Miami would ever win a championship ring together, unless they bring in new talent. James has been to the NBA Finals five times but won only two. The loss cast a doubt over his status again as the most dominant player in the NBA.
In an article on Bleacher Report, fans and NBA experts are again speculating if LeBron would go for "The Decision Part 2" by opting out of the Miami Heat and taking his talents elsewhere to vindicate his loss. LeBron understands that he is also close to the end of his prime and if he wants to join the elite squad of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan, he has to win more championships.
After their loss against the Spurs in Game 4, LeBron said, "Soul searching, there won't be much of that. We're a veteran ball club that's won a championship, that's won a couple of championships, that's been to four straight Finals. We know what it takes to win. We've just got to go out and do it."
According to International Business Times, LeBron will most likely transfer to a team who can help him win championships. At this point, winning is everything for the superstar. He has a number of options, although experts suggest that he return to the Cleveland Cavaliers and take on the role of the prodigal son to earn back the love and respect of his lost fans. Considering that the Cavaliers have the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Kyrie Irving, LeBron can be in a much better position compared to the original lineup he had to play with when he was a rookie. Other possible options include the Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Knicks, the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors.
In a report by USA Today, Wade already expressed that he will continue playing in Miami Heat if given the chance. Bosh also shared that he wanted to stay in Miami. LeBron, on the other hand, will again be the focus of speculation as he enters the free agent market.
