NBA Trade Rumors 2014: Golden State Gets 'Aggressive' for Kevin Love
Kevin Love may be bound to join the Golden State Warriors.
After the 2014-2015, it is highly expected that Kevin Love will be opting to be released from his contract early to look for a team that might help him qualify for the playoffs, and the Warriors have been very aggressive in showing that they want Love. Steve Kerr, new head coach of the Golden State Warriors, said that he needed a forward to complement point guard Stephen Curry and Love is the perfect person for the role, writes SB Nation.
"You know we'll be aggressive," a Warriors source told SF Gate.
The report, however, noted that in acquiring Kevin Love, the Warriors do not wish to include Klay Thompson. Furthermore, the team does not have a pick for 2014 and can only offer their 2015 top choice after June 26. The deal may involve Harrison Barnes, David Lee and a first round pick in 2015 in exchange for Love.
Other teams have also expressed their interest in acquiring the forward. Chicago, Phoenix and Boston have first round picks, as well as young talents that Minnesota might like. Houston is also a possible choice for Love, especially when he can create a formidable triangle with James Harden and Dwight Howard.
According to Love, what is most important is a team that wins. He has been off the playoffs for four straight seasons. In terms of player efficiency, Love is third behind LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
According to Fansided, the Washington Wizards might also trade Kevin Love for Bradley Beal. However, experts say that the exchange is not enough in terms of salary. The Wizards do not have the advantage in terms of offering young talents and first round draft picks. Minnesota might settle for a deal that focuses more on Bradley Beal and Otto Porter. In the meantime, it is apparent that Kevin Love is not the player that the Minnesota Timberwolves should center their team around on.
