Clippers vs. Warriors Game 7 Recap: Players Altercation After Game Settled by Police [Details Here]
After the Golden State Warriors were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers with a final score of 126-121, a hallway altercation ensued which ended up with the police intervening, according to a report by Mercury News. The incident happened in the hallway of Staples Center, leading to the locker room of each team.
While the Warriors were contemplating their loss inside their locker room, they heard someone outside repeatedly say, "It's awfully quiet in there now." The Warriors thought that the voice was Tyronn Lue, assistant coach of the L.A. Clippers. GSW players went out of their room and shouted back. They discovered that the voices might actually have originated from Clipper ball boys since all the team players and staff were accounted for in their locker room.
As the Warriors were retreating back to their locker room, the Clippers heard what they shouted earlier so they also marched out of their room. A verbal altercation followed among several players from both teams like Chris Paul, Glen Davis and Marreese Speights. Although there was no physical contact, the Los Angeles Police Department was called to separate both teams, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Since the beginning of the playoffs, the bad blood between both teams continued to escalate. Doc Rivers, coach of the L.A. Clippers, was seen approaching Mark Jackson, coach of the Warriors, to have a private talk in the hallway after games. Chapel services for both teams were then done separately.
Rivers and Jackson would exchange nasty comments against each other during and after games while Blake Griffin and Jermaine O'Neal were seen shouting at each other.
Although the entire NBA did show its support towards the Clippers in axing Donald Sterling after his racial comments, the seven-game series between the Clippers and Warriors only intensified the situation. For now, fans will have to wait for the 2014-2015 season to see more of the rivalry. The Clippers will advance to the semi-finals after winning game 7.
