Dwayne Wade Highlights, Stats & News Update: Miami Heat Guard Finally Getting Married; Meet Gabielle Union

Dwayne Wayne is finally getting married, confirming that his now-fiance Gabrielle Union "said YES!!!" on Twitter.

This was the official announcement of the engagement between the Miami Heat player and Gabrielle Union. The announcement was accompanied by an Instagram photo of the solitaire diamond engagement ring. The 8.5 carat engagement ring was also shown on Union's own Twitter account with the caption, "Sooooo this happened...#Yessss.".

The 31-year-old Miami Heat star and the 41-year-old actress have been dating for several years now. Union is best known for her acting roles in "Bad Boys II", "Bring it On" and "Think Like a Man". According to the Liberty Voice Guardian, she was a year round athlete, playing soccer and running track. She began modelling to pay off her school debts which eventually opened doors for her to become a movie and television actress. 

On the other hand, Wade has won two NBA rings, and with it back-to-back championships, and a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics.

USA Today reported that Wade asked Union before the annual Heat Christmas party. The well-wishers also wrote their thoughts on Twitter. Miami Heat owner Micky Arison said, "A special evening." Chris Bosh's wife Adrienne followed suit, saying, "The @MiamiHEAT Christmas party always brings great traditions and the BEST surprises."

This would be the second marriage for the two. Wade was recently divorced from Siovaughn Funches, with whom he has two sons. The divorce proceedings turned ugly when she claimed homeless status in fighting over the financial status of the divorce. The divorce proceedings were settled in 2010.

Union, on the other hand, was previously married to Jacksonville Jaguars Chris Howard. She married in 2001 and divorced in 2006.

The couple has been dating since 2009 and had Christmas cards named "Wade-Union family".

There is still no word on when and where the couple's wedding will be.
