The Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets will collide on Friday night in what could be one of the most physical matches in the opening week of the 2013-14 NBA Season.

The defending champions Heat will look to bounce back from a surprising loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday when they travel to Brooklyn to face the new-look Nets.

LeBron James, who averaged 21.0 points to go along with 10.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in their first two games, will face two familiar foes - Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, whom James traded barbs with during the offseason.

During the preseason game between the Nets and the Heat, a new rivalry was born particularly when Pierce sent a message to the Heat by delivering a hard foul to a driving James in that game.

Deron Williams, on the other hand, declared that their team is more than ready to face the back-to-back champions, saying that he believes they can beat the Heat and that they are the better team this season.

"I think in order for us to be able to beat them this year, we have to feel like we are a better team and we can beat them. And I think we do," Williams said in an interview with ESPN.

Williams also added that being Garnett and Pierce's teammate, he also "dislikes" the Heat from now on.

"They [Pierce and Garnett] definitely have their rivalries, their dislikes. As a team, if one guy has a beef with somebody, we all have a beef with them. That is how we are going to attack it this year," said Williams, whose team absorbed a 98-94 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

The Heat have been dominating the Nets in recent years as the Nets remains winless against the Heat since March 20, 2009, but Friday's showdown should be an interesting one with the budding rivalry surrounding these two powerhouse squads.
