The 2013-14 NBA season is right around the corner and as the new season begins, you can expect top-tier teams to look for additional pieces to improve their chances to contend for the coveted Larry O'Brien trophy.

One of the most-talked about players that could be traded in the upcoming season is Houston Rockets center Omer Asik, who became dispensable with the arrival of superstar center Dwight Howard.

Rockets coach Kevin McHale is expected to test the twin tower combination of Howard and Asik, but HoopsWorld writer Steve Kyler believes that the 27-year-old center is still on the trading block.

"Too early to speculate on what Houston could get ... but there continues to be talk that Omer Asik is the major chip that goes out, either for an elite Small Forward or a big power forward. I don't think you'll see anything with Houston until January/February unless the wheels fall off for someone and they get desperate to salvage a season," wrote Kyler.

If the Rockets are indeed looking for a power forward in return, one likely possible trade partner is the Denver Nuggets, who are reportedly looking to trade do-it-all power forward Kenneth Faried.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves are also in the free agent and trade market, and are looking for additional depth on the wing. According to Nate Sandell of ESPN, the Wolves are looking to acquire Richard Hamilton, who averaged 9.8 points with the Chicago Bulls last season.

"The 35-year-old Hamilton would fit the Wolves' desire to add depth on the wing, especially with swingman Chase Budinger out for at least the first month of the season after undergoing surgery Sept. 30 to remove a quarter of his left meniscus," Sandell reported.

Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio previously reported that the Nuggets are also considering signing the veteran shooting guard, hoping that Hamilton will make an impact in the upcoming season.
