Derrick Rose Return Update: Rose Says He is Ready To Dominate Again in His Return, Believes Chicago Bulls Can Dethrone Miami Heat
Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose will make his much-awaited return in the 2013-14 NBA season and the former Most Valuable Player expressed readiness for the moment he and his fans are waiting for.
In his first public appearance in Chicago in almost three months, Rose declared that he is ready to get the ball rolling for the Bulls, pointing out that he is indeed healthy after recovering from an ACL injury that caused him to miss the entire 2012-13 season.
"I'm feeling good. Right now my legs are good. I'm just trying to stay positive and just keep my emotions from exploding knowing that the season is right around the corner," said Rose during a press conference as reported by ESPN Chicago.
The 24-year-old point guard also expressed confidence about the Bulls' chances this season. He said that he was impressed by the performance of the Bulls last season despite playing without him for the entire year.
When asked about his expectations for next season, Rose confidently said that he sees no reason why they can't dethrone the Heat, but added that the team will be focused on their campaign and not on the Heat and their opponents.
"But we can only worry about the Bulls. We have a great team, young guys. Just seeing how the guys individually are getting better, I think it's going to be a good year for the Bulls," Rose said in an Associated Press report.
Before sustaining the devastating knee injury in 2011, the Bulls were poised to challenge the Heat for Eastern Conference supremacy, but the scenario was thrown out the moment Rose tore his ACL.
Last season, expectations were understandably not that high for the banged-up Bulls, but they still managed to make some noise in the East. The Bulls defeated the fourth-seeded Brooklyn Nets in a highly-competitive series and defeated the Heat in Game 1 of their second-round match up before the defending champions went on to win the next four games to eliminate the Bulls.
