Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose made bold statements months prior to his official return on the NBA court. On Sunday, the former NBA MVP was at it again, announcing his team is ready to contend for the title along with a promise to show off a confident and aggressive self next season.

Rose, who's returning from a 1 year absence due to an ACL injury, believes acquisition of solid personnel and development of some of their youngsters - especially Jimmy Butler - will help drive the Bulls to their seventh championship in franchise history.

"That's everyone's goal in the NBA, but for us I think coming together as quickly as possible," Rose told the Examiner. "With us starting early - we never started early. The last time we started early was when we went to London one year and that was like three or four years ago and we didn't have the team we have now," he continued.

"With us adding (Carlos Boozer) and guys like Jimmy Butler -- he's coming into his own. Everybody is getting better individually, so I think we're going to be a way better team than the previous years," he added.

Rose already announced that he's 100 percent ready both physically and mentally for the tough grind next season, adding that he's excited to play with his team on the floor.

"I'm excited, but at the same time, I can't get overwhelmed by it," he said. "You see people when they first come back, they're so emotional and so energetic. For me, I don't think I'm going to be like that. To tell you the truth, I might do some flips, you never know. I'm just going to try and play my game and usually when I play basketball, I'm focused in on just winning that game," he added.

"I think the only thing that changed in my game is my confidence. My confidence grew as a player and you'll see that when I play," Rose said.

Rose and the Bulls are scheduled to start training camp in the coming days with their first preseason game slated on Oct. 5 against the Indiana Pacers. Several analysts, including TNT's Steve Kerr, believes the Bulls, with a healthy Rose, will be the biggest hurdle to the Miami Heat's three-peat aspirations.
