FIBA EuroBasket 2013: France vs. Latvia, Serbia vs. Ukraine - Live Streaming, Schedule, Preview & Boxscore Information
The FIBA EuroBasket 2013 has seen a lot of surprises after roughly two weeks of intense basketball competition. European powerhouses Russia, Turkey and Germany have already packed their bags after going flat in the first round. Meanwhile, France is trying to avoid that as they go for the win against the up-and-coming Latvia at 3 p.m EST.
France vs, Latvia (3 p.m EST)
France enters the second round of the EuroBasket Championship carrying a lot of expectation. After lording on top of their group in the first round, the Frenchmen found themselves smothered by a rough Lithuanian squad and went on to suffer a crucial loss. On the other hand, Latvia continued to turn doubters into believers following another sensational victory over Ukraine.
Key Match-up: Tony Parker (17.5 points and 4.2 assists per game) vs. Kristaps Janicenoks (14.2 pts and 1.2 steals per game)
Parker has been nothing but an all-around marvel for the French national basketball team. The Spurs All-Star guard has served as the primary scorer and wing defender for France, which is in for a make or break duel with Latvia. Meanwhile, Latvia is expected to lean on Janicenoks. As Latvia's top gunner, Janicenoks knows he needs to double up his average in order for Latvia to have a chance of pulling off an upset against a very-motivated French team.
Serbia vs. Ukraine - (11:45 a.m EST)
Entering the fray as the only undefeated team in the tourney, Serbia has steadily become a force to be reckoned with in this FIBA World Cup qualifier. Powered by former NBA center Nenad Kristic, Serbia has been a dominant force on both ends of the floor for any team. However, they need to raise up their level of play on Friday as they take on the Ukrainians, who are also in a do-or-die situation.
Key match-up: Nenad Kristic (16.2 points per game) vs. Sergii Gladyr (13.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game)
Kristic and Gladyr, two of the best performers in the tourney, will finally square off. Kristic, who played for the New Jersey Nets and the Oklahoma City Thunder, will be leaning on his experience while Gladyr is expected to be a trail blazer on the floor for Ukraine.
