The final piece of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC has been announced by Activision, signaling the end of the game's run before the company prepares to deliver the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts on fans. The DLC pack is call Apocalypse, and will feature four new maps for users to download and use, along with a new zombie mode called Origins, which was teased yesterday. This announcement was originally made on Gamespot, and the DLC will appear exclusively on the Xbox 360 on August 27, with a PlayStation 3 and PC release to follow afterwards.

The four maps found in this DLC contain two brand-new maps and two maps found in older Call of Duty games. The two new maps are called Pod and Frost. The first re-imagined map is from the Original Black Ops game and is called Takeoff. The second is from World at War, and is called Dig.

It is the zombie mode map, however, that appears to be the highlight of this DLC. This new zombie mode will bring players to an alternate World War One. Players are transported to France, where they will encounter the original four characters from the very first zombies map. Of course, as seen in the video teaser players will have to deal with a giant robot that will be marching around the game's map. The robot is capable of stomping on players, so maybe players can use the robot the squash some zombies instead of themselves.

The new Origins zombie mode will also feature a host of new features. A whole new arsenal of weapons will be available on the map, as well as supernatural abilities to help weed out members of the zombie horde. In addition, the new setting will change several of the special weapons that are available in the game. Instead of the high-tech drones found in the game, this new map will have one powered by diesel. A tank will also be available, which may be useful for taking down that giant mech that wanders around.

This DLC will be available as part of the season pass for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Those who do not have the game's season pass can buy the DLC pack for $15. While the zombies mode sounds interesting, the four maps available initially sound lackluster, due to the two re-imagined maps that are part of the DLC.  Traditionally, these re-imagined maps have not been as well received by critics, but perhaps these new maps will be able to differentiate themselves from the others.
