NBA News 2013: Milwaukee Bucks Exploring Sign-and-Trade Deal Involving Brandon Jennings
The Milwaukee Bucks are exploring a sign-and-trade scenario involving disgruntled point guard Brandon Jennings, a league insider disclosed on Monday.
Gery Woelfel of Racine Journal Time reported Jennings' frustration over staying with the Milwaukee Bucks after the team flirted with the possibility of bringing in Jeff Teague as starting point guard last week.
Teague, a restricted free agent, received a four-year, $32 million deal from the Bucks, but the Atlanta Hawks matched the offer before the three-day window expired.
According to several sources, Jennings was offended by the Bucks' decision to prioritize Teague's contract situation instead of focusing on his.
Jennings reportedly demanded a contract from the Bucks worth $12 million per year, but the team had second thoughts about giving the point guard such a lucrative deal.
"As u might imagine, Brandon Jennings isn't a happy camper. A sign-and-trade appears inevitable," Woelfel posted on his Twitter account.
The Bucks are reportedly reaching out to several teams to pull off a sign-and-trade deal, hoping to get a decent point guard and draft picks in exchange for Jennings, who once dropped 55 points in his rookie season.
Jennings averaged 17.0 points and 5.7 dimes in four seasons with the Bucks. He reached the postseason twice - averaging 16.7 points and 3.7 assists per game - but did not advance beyond the first round.
