NBA News and Updates: 2014 NBA Draft Top Prospects Dominate at World Championship; Team USA Bags Fifth Gold Medal (Watch Video)
The immense amount of talent in the 2014 NBA Draft has become clearer in each passing day. That fact has been made known again at the conclusion of the 2013 FIBA Under-19 World Championship, where Team USA cruised to a gold medal after going 9-0 in the tournament.
Bannered by next year's top NBA prospects Marcus Smart and Aaron Gordon, Team USA blew by every opponent on their way to a fifth gold medal finish in the Under-19 World Championship.
Marcus Smart, who was projected a lottery pick in this year's draft before withdrawing to play another season with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, played an integral role in Team USA's win, while Aaron Gordon captured the tournament MVP after averaging 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds. 1.9 assists and 2.0 steals in just 18.9 minutes of playing time.
Jahlil Okafor, the projected top pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, was also selected in the All-Tournament Team alongside Gordon, Croatia's Dario Saric, Australia's Dante Exum, and Serbia's Vasilje Micic.
Saric, the top international player available in the 2013 Draft before deciding to withdraw, led Croatia to an 8th place finish in the tournament. Team USA overpowered the competition, blasting Serbia 82-66 in the finals.
