NBA Free Agency Report 2013: Brandon Jennings Demands Jaw-Dropping Payday From Milwaukee Bucks; Clippers To Meet O.J Mayo, Carl Landry
Free-agent point guard Brandon Jennings is demanding a max deal from the Milwaukee Bucks to secure his service next season, a source close to situation reported on Tuesday.
Jennings, who becomes an unrestricted free-agent after four seasons with the Bucks, already expressed his willingness to re-sign with the team that selected him 10th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.
However, the Bucks might need to shell out an immense amount of money to retain their starting point guard, who averaged 17.0 points and 5.7 assists over four seasons.
Although the Bucks decided to keep Jennings' pay proposal confidential, a reliable league insider disclosed that the point guard wants a multi-year deal that pays him around $15 million per year.
Even before the free agent began, the Bucks made it a point that they are going to re-sign Jennings, no matter how big the amount is. But there are some rumors that the small market ball club is beginning to have some second thoughts about honoring Jennings' contract demands.
In case negotiations between the Bucks and Jennings would eventually collapse, the team is reportedly interested in bringing in former Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague, who could reunite with former Atlanta head coach Larry Drew.
Jennings will likely get interest from the Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Bobcats and Philadelphia 76ers, teams with enough cap space to sign him to lucrative contracts.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers are planning to go all in this offseason as they plan to surround Chris Paul with good supporting casts.
Clips head coach Doc Rivers is planning to meet Carl Landry and O.J Mayo on Tuesday as part of the team's free-agency shopping plan.
