NBA News 2013: All-Star Guard Derrick Rose Not Happy With Bulls Dismissal of Assistant Coach and Close Friend
The dismissal of Chicago Bulls lead assistant coach Ron Adams could be a sign that things are getting out of hand as far as the relationship between the ball club's general manager Gar Forman and head coach Tom Thibodeau.
In an interview with ESPN Radio's "Waddle & Silvy" on Monday, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area NBA insider Rich Bucher said he was shocked to learn that the Bulls decided not to renew the contract of Adams, who is a close friend of Thibodeau and serves as a father figure to All-Star point guard Derrick Rose.
The NBA insider added the camp of Rose isn't happy at all with the Bulls' latest decision and is still looking for reasons behind the ousting of one of the most highly valued assistant coaches in the league.
"I got to tell you, this is ... and I talked to somebody in the Rose camp, and they said they didn't know what to make of this," Bucher said."They said this is a big story. And who knows where it goes."
Rose, who's expected to resume his basketball career after spending the whole 2012-2013 season rehabbing his surgically repaired knee, is still without a reliable go-to-scorer in the backcourt as the Bulls still hasn't made an aggressive move to give the All-Star guard the much-needed help this offseason.
"To me, I'm stunned. And some people have already suggested that this indicates a rift between Gar Forman and Tom Thibodeau. I don't know that. I have no sense of that. But it is a very, very peculiar move."
"Because Ron is highly regarded around the league, and he certainly is close to Derrick Rose. ... To me, this is something clearly to be watched and followed, because it's a very odd decision on the surface of it," Bucher added.
