NBA's Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers Fighting To Sign Coach With Championship Experience
The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are reportedly in a tussle to sign their next head coach--who happens to be the same person.
Brett Brown, who worked for seven years under the tutelage of San Antonio Spurs head coach Greg Popovich, is the leading candidate to replace Doug Collins as the next head coach for the Sixers.
But Brown has also shown interest in assuming the Celtics head coaching job after the franchise parted ways with Doc Rivers and kicked off their rebuilding plan by trading Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets.
According to the source, the Boston University alumnus is extremely interested to become the next head coach of the Celtics, but the ball club hasn't contacted Brown yet as of the moment.
If hired either by the Sixers or Celtics, Brown will be the latest former Spurs assistant to land a head coaching job. Spurs assistant Mike Budenholzer was also hired by the Atlanta Hawks as their next head coach weeks ago, replacing now Milwaukee Bucks head coach Larry Drew.
Brown was also a player development coach for the Spurs, overseeing the development of some the team's key players such as Tony Parker, Danny Green, Tiago Splitter, and Gary Neal.
In the 2012 Summer Olympics, Brown served as the head coach for the Australian men's basketball team.
