NBA Free-Agency News 2013: Chris Paul Mum About Doc Rivers Deal [VIDEO]; Israeli Point Guard On Free Agency Radar
Incoming free-agent point guard Chris Paul did not share enough details about his thoughts on the arrival of Doc Rivers to Los Angeles after the Clippers finally pulled off a deal with the Boston Celtics to get the championship-winning coach.
Paul was recently interviewed by ESPN at his basketball camp in San Diego, and insisted he had no comments since he has been out of town with his family and hasn't talked with teammates as far as the deal is concerned.
After a couple of week of on-and-off negotiations, the Clippers and Celtics finally agreed to a deal that would send Rivers to the Clippers in exchange for a 2015 first round pick.
On the other hand, Paul is expected to be one of the hottest free agents available in the market this offseason along with Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Andrew Bynum and Andre Igoudala.
Paul averaged 16.9 points and 9.7 assists in his second season with the Clippers, earning him another selection into the NBA All-NBA First Team. However, Paul's postseason woes continued following the Clippers' first round exit at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors have already shown interest in signing Israeli point guard Gal Mekel.
Mekel, who played two seasons for the Wichita State Shockers, emerged as a top international free-agent prospect after another spectacular season in the Israeli League. The 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds point guard can be a valuable asset for teams, who needs depth in the point guard position.
The Raptors are looking for a pure point guard after trading away Jose Calderon last season while the Milwaukee Bucks may perhaps be losing Brandon Jennings this offseason.
