San Antonio Spurs Gun For Fifth Championship Against Miami Heat: Live Score, Live Streaming & TV Schedule For Game 6 Of The NBA Finals 2013
The NBA Finals is heading to a crucial Game 6 with the San Antonio Spurs trying to wrap up series in front of Miami Heat's fans on Tuesday at American Airlines.
But looking at the pattern of the championship series so far, the Heat might have a great chance to knot the series at 3-3 tonight mainly because no team won back-to-back games so far.
Unlike many had expected, this year's NBA Finals has been a series of back-and-forth blowouts since Tony Parker knocked down a clutch jumper to help the Spurs eke out a 92-88 win in Game 1.
On the other hand, history tells that only three teams had come back and won the series at home after going 3-2 since the NBA adapted the 2-3-2 format in the finals.
It's a déjà vu all over again for the Heat, who faced this kind of situation two years ago against the eventual NBA champion- the Dallas Mavs.
In short, LeBron James and company are facing a pretty tough task of turning things around. Right now, it's championship of bust for the Heat.
Key to victory for the Spurs
- Stifle the King - The Spurs have been doing a fine job keeping James' field goal shooting below 50 percent for the entire series. In Game 6, the Spurs need to double their effort because the 6-foot-8 bruiser is expected to attack the rim hard in almost every ball possession.
- Encore for Manu - Manu Ginobili's breakthrough performance (24 points and 10 assists) in Game 5 was huge for the Spurs, who desperately needed a spark outside the Tim Duncan-Tony Parker combo. Tonight, the Argentine must continue to put pressure on the Heat defense and provide another double-digit output to secure his fourth championship ring of his career.
- Knock down long range bombs - the Spurs' incredible three-point shooting is the main reason why they have a 3-2 edge in the series. Danny Green, who recorded 25 treys in the finals, has to stay as a threat from the outside to keep the Heat defense busy and open up space for Spurs bigmen to operate inside the shaded lane.
Key to victory for the Heat
- Attacking King - The Spurs have been dictating James' shot selection for most of the series, making the four-time MVP more of a jump-shooter than a bruiser. To force a decider, James has to be more aggressive on the offensive end. In James' case, efficiency can only be attained by pounding the ball inside and drawing fouls.
- Big game for Wade and Bosh - As what happened in Game 4, the Heat easily grabbed the victory behind a monster effort from the Big 3. James, despite his woeful percentage, is expected to come up big tonight but the questions remains on the reliability of both Wade and Bosh to produce the same output as they did last Thursday. An 80-point output from the Heat's Big 3 would assure a Game 7 on Thursday.
- Wake-up Bench - Before the series against the Spurs, the Heat bench was one of the deadliest in the NBA, averaging at least 33 points per ball game in the postseason. Unfortunately, this production decreased dramatically in the finals with Shane Battier strolling and Chris Andersen having limited playing time ever since it became a 'small ball affair.' In Game 6, Miami has to get other bench players outside Ray Allen and Mike Miller involved. With the kind of defense the Spurs giving to them, the Heat direly needs production from the unlikely source of points. It's the only way to make the Spurs defense confused.
After one four-point game and four blowouts, Game 6 of the NBA Finals series between the Spurs and Heat could be an epic one. In a series filled with future Hall of Famers, a role player usually steps up to make a big difference down the line. Who could it be? Stay tune. Win or Go Home.
