The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers have renewed talks about pulling off perhaps the biggest offseason trade so far, a source close to situation reported on Thursday.

Both teams engaged in another negotiation after their previous talk collapsed over the weekend. This was mainly because the Clippers are not ready to part ways with budding point guard Eric Bledsoe.

According to ESPN, the Celtics have suddenly become interested again in the trade talk following reports that the Clippers are willing to accept one of the bloated contracts of either Jason Terry ($11 million over two years) or Courtney Lee ($14.4 million over three years) along with head coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics, on the other hand, will receive DeAndre Jordan, the expiring contract of Caron Butler, and a first-round pick to kick start their rebuilding plan this offseason.

If this trade materializes, the Clippers are convinced that they are going to have a great chance at re-signing All-Star point guard Chris Paul to a long-term deal. In addition, the Clips will also try to convince Paul Pierce to return to his hometown in Los Angeles and play for a championship along with Rivers and Garnett.

Ramification of the potential trade

The Clippers will instantly become a legitimate title contender next season if the trade pushed through and they're able to re-sign Paul. However, there will be bumpy roads ahead with Garnett playing into his twilight years and Blake Griffin struggling to improve a reliable post-up game.

On the other hand, the Clippers could add a valuable piece in Jordan and a first-round pick that could turn into gold in next year's deep draft class. The Celtics are expected to be a solid playoff contender as long as All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo stays healthy.
