Miami Heat vs Indiana Pacers 2013: Where To Watch Live Online Stream & Follow Live Score, Play-by-Play Of Game 3: Can LeBron Break Indiana?
After giving the Miami Heat a hard time in South Beach, the Pacers are now in Indianapolis with a different mindset compared to what they had last year.
On-court maturity has been the theme for these Pacers throughout their postseason campaign and it continues to give them dividends as they gun for a 2-1 advantage in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final.
Last year, Paul George played a supporting role to a Pacers team led by All-Star forward Danny Granger.
Now, after a breakout season, the 24-year old small forward has emerged from the shadows of his teammate and has been making a name for himself throughout the postseason, becoming the focal leader of this young but disciplined squad.
Without a doubt, George's impressive play on both ends of the floor earned him respect not only from the fans but as well from opposing teams.
In a play that perhaps validated his place among the league's best players (a slamdunk on Heat center Chris Andersen), George received a surprising gesture from arguably the most competitive player in the league MVP LeBron James.
After hitting a pull-up trey to end the third quarter of Game 2, James decided to walk into different direction from their bench and slapped hands with George at the center of the court.
It was a sign that James finally realized the arrival of George as a superstar. Ironically, that simple handshake also showed that the Pacers are beginning to get into the minds of the defending champs.
With home-court advantage now on their side, George and the Pacers are looking to build more momentum as they try to put the Heat in an uncomfortable situation.
The Heat have already faced this kind of adversity like the one they found from the Boston Celtics when they were pushed to the brink of elimination in last year's Eastern Conference finals.
James and company know that they are facing a different kind of monster right now and it's to their team work and strong play to fend off this emerging threat in the conference.
Averaging 33 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists, James has been nothing short of spectacular in the series. However, the Heat seem to depend too much on their MVP player without getting bigtime contribution from Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Wade and Bosh averaged a combined 33.5 points per game in the first two games of the series. Although these numbers are pretty much solid, it's not enough for the Heat to get over the hump.
Moreover, the Heat needs to ratchet up their defense after allowing the Pacers to shoot near 50 percent from the field in the first two games.
Meanwhile, the Pacers have been winning postseason games with their gritty defense. Boasting the league's second best defense in the regular-season, the Pacers have given the Heat so much trouble when orchestrating their offense, holding their high-octane offense to just 46 percent on the floor.
Indiana is effectively capitalizing on the edge they have at center position where Roy Hibbert has been super dominant in the past two games. The All-Star bigman is averaging 24.0 points and 9.5 boards against the Heat while serving as the anchor for the Pacers' defense.
Lance Stephenson, George Hill and David West are also holding their ground against the Heat's athletic wingmen, giving the Pacers a much needed boost in crucial stretches.
Everything is all set for another classic showdown at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where the Pacers are undefeated this postseason.
