NBA Playoffs 2013: Knicks Beat Pacers 85-75; Chris Copeland Breathes New Life Into Knicks, Who Avoid Getting Ousted At Home
The New York Knicks prevented elimination tonight, defeating the Indiana Pacers 85-75, in Game Five of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
New York never lost the lead in the game, dominating from start to finish.
"At this point, X-and-O's goes the window," said Knicks' forward Carmelo Anthony to Rachel Nichols in his post-game interview. "They know what we're going to do. We know what they are going to do. It's about how wants it more."
Anthony led the way with 28 points despite showing signs of shoulder issues throughout the game.
"As shooter you got to alter your shot a little bit," he told Nicols. "But forget that, I'm trying to win."
Rookie Chris Copeland provided much needed energy off the bench, for an offense that had been struggling of during the playoffs, dropping 18 points. J.R. Smith, broke out of his shooting slump, contributing 18 points, as well.
The Pacers offense never got going without point guard George Hill, who was out with a concussion, despite Paul George's 23 points, six rebounds and six assists and David West's David West's 17 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana also committed 19 turnovers in the game.
