11-time NBA champion Phil Jackson is not interested to accept a head coaching job for now, but might be open to assume such role in the future, only if he has influence on the roster of the team, the Hall of Fame coach said on Wednesday.

Jackson recently turned down the head coaching offer by the Brooklyn Nets, who are very much eager to land the legendary coach after firing P.J Carlesimo following a first-round exit in the playoffs.

The Nets are reportedly willing to shell out eight-figure money just to give them a shot at hiring Jackson.

Nevertheless, Jackson's decision to stay retired from coaching remains firm for now until an enticing offer comes in along the way.

According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, the former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers head coach wants a role similar to what Pat Riley has had with the Miami Heat.

Riley was previously the president (basketball operations) and head coach of the Miami Heat, giving him the authority on the roster of the team.

Under his tutelage, Riley made significant players movement to accommodate his offense, one of which was the trade that gave them Shaquille O'Neal from Los Angeles Lakers in 2004.

After firing Stan Van Gundy following a disappointing Eastern Conference finals loss to the Detroit Pistons in 2005, Riley assumed the head coaching duties and eventually guided the Heat to its first ever NBA title the next season.

For Jackson, having such exclusive role gives him the authority to pick the players that really fits into his system - particularly the Triangle Offense.

Jackson won his first six rings with the Chicago Bulls in the 90s and then joined the Lakers to win three more title with Kobe Bryant and Shaq running the show.

He made a brief retirement in 2004, before re-joining the Lakers and guiding them to two more championships in 2009 and 2010.

Jackson is currently in consultancy role to find the next head coach for the Detroit Pistons
