2013 NBA Draft: List Of Early Draft Candidates Unveiled; Kentucky’s Noel, Michigan’s Burke Tabbed As Early Favorites
The list of the early candidates for the 2013 NBA Draft has been unveiled on Wednesday with Kentucky Wildcats' center Nerlens Noel and Michigan Wolverines star Trey Burke leading the new generation of basketball talents.
There are a total of 77 early entry candidates for the upcoming NBA Draft. 46 players played college basketball in the United States while 31 are international prospects.
According to an early mock draft, Narlens Noel emerged as the top prospect heading into the draft. The Wildcats center averaged 10.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 4.4 blocks before going down with an ACL injury.
Scouts reportedly like what they see in Noel, who possessed the length and athleticism to become a major defensive presence in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Trey Burke have gained ground in the latest mock draft after leading the Wolverines back to the National Championship game and winning the Wooden Award.
Burke, who's considered the best point guard in the draft class, will likely go up to no.2 and down to no.5 depending on the result of the lottery.
Other prospects that could storm into the scene in the coming days are Indiana Cody Zeller, Georgetown's Otto Porter, Kansas' Ben McLeMore.
Zeller took a step back in his second season with the Hoosiers, but scouts are still high about the polished skills of the 7-foot center. Porter, on the other hand, is viewed as a terrific perimeter defender and a solid scorer which can make an instant impact for any ball club. On the other hand, teams rave about McLemore's great upside, though he still has to improve consistency.
Russia's Sergey Karasev and France's Rudy Gobert are the early favorites from the International side. Karasev is seen as a solid shooter with a good playmaking skill while the seven-footer Gobert has a raw talent with high potential.
Players can withdraw from the draft until June 17 before the NBA Draft on June 27 in Brooklyn
