Derrick Rose Return Update: Rose's Brother Says Chicago Bulls Star Could Return in Second Round of 2013 NBA Playoffs
The Chicago Bulls are enjoying a flourishing run in the postseason, and according to Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose's brother, there's a chance that Rose could even be back in time for the second round of the playoffs.
Reggie Rose, the brother/manager of the Bulls superstar, says that Derrick is very close to 100 percent recovery of the ACL tear he suffered one year ago during Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs.
So close, in fact, that Derrick could possibly return for the second round of the playoffs, if the Bulls get that far.
"He has been working hard and getting a lot of shots up every day. Most of all, he is getting his mind ready, getting comfortable with his body. I think (his mind) is probably at a good 90 percent now," Reggie said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Bulls are currently up 3 games to 2 on the Brooklyn Nets following Monday's nets victory to stave off elimination. With the winner of the series slated to take on LeBron James and the world champion Miami Heat, the Bulls could surely benefit from Rose's skills as an upgrade at the point guard position, although Nate Robinson has been huge for Chicago in the series thus far.
However, Rose and Bulls management have been very cautious as to the timetable of Rose's return. Rose was medically cleared to play in March, but has said that he would not come back until he felt comfortable dunking off his left leg, the one he injured last April.
Either way, whether or not he does come back in time for the second round will likely make a big difference as the Bulls try and erase the sting of last season's disappointing first round exit in the playoffs with postseason success in 2013.
