Kelsey Williams & 'Chunky' Cheerleader Controversy: CBS Reporter Under Fire For Comments On Thunder Cheerleader
A CBS sports blogger has recently drawn criticisms from a number sports followers after his eye-brow-raising column questioning whether a 'chunky' Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader deserves to keep her job.
Anna-Megan Raley, who's writing under the pen name Claire Crawford, is suddenly at the center of controversy after her insensitive reporting regarding a Thunder cheerleader named Kesley Williams.
"The Rockets looked terrible in Game 1, but some say they weren't the only bad-looking people on the court," Raley stated in her article right after Houston's blowout loss to the Thunder in the series opener.
If you think it's a harsh comment from a blogger, then the next line in Raley's column just went below the belt.
"We're not trying to be ugly. We are just discussing what men like in women, specifically NBA cheerleaders," Raley added.
Raley's post received condemnation from several sports fans with some of them asking CBS to fire Raley.
New York Film Academy alumni Ashton Foster even described Raley's report as a "vapid, poorly written, goosip girl blog entry."
"You should be ashamed of yourself... This is disgusting... You're cruel. GROW UP," she wrote, according to Herald Sun.
For Raley, it was a bad reporting that forever tainted her career as a sports writer. CBS Houston has already taken down Raley's work from their website.
Meanwhile, Williams feels overwhelmed with the support she got and thanked them via her Twitter account.
'We wouldn't know what blessings were if we didn't go through trials. Thank you to EVERYONE for the compassion and love today. I'm in awe,' posted Williams, who has worked as a Thunder cheerleader for three years.
