Golden State Warriors vs. Denver Nuggets Live Stream, Schedule & Preview: Stephen Curry To Try To Even Series In Game 2 Of 2013 NBA Playoffs Series
With the pain of losing All-Star forward David Lee for the entire postseason, head coach Mark Jackson gave his team a wakeup call as they prepare for another slugfest with the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series on Tuesday at the Pepsi Center.
"We're not going to panic," Jackson told reporters following Monday's practice session. "We thought we were good enough to win Game 1. They made plays, they made the biggest play."
Jackson, who steered the Warriors back to the playoffs in his second year as a coach, admitted he will really miss the double-double production Lee delivers every single game. Yet, despite the tragic injury to their best bigman (torn hip flexor), the rugged coach still expects his team to step up and fight for a win as they try to even the series at 1-1.
"Their job is not to be David Lee," Jackson told the media on Monday. "At the end of the day, we want you to be you."
In Lee's absence, it's now all in the hands of Stephen Curry to save Golden State's season. Curry, who struggled early in the series opener before finishing with 19 markers, will have to light up the scoreboard consistently while Clay Thompson, the other Warriors sharpshooter, has to at least double-up his production. A border-line All-Star a couple of season ago, Andrew Bogut should be a presence defensively as he tries to find more shots.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets will look for a much better outing in Game 2 after Andre Miller's old-school layup gave them a 97-95 victory in Game 1.
Luckily for them, the Nuggets will have more help inside the shaded lane when power forward Kenneth Faried returns from a sprained knee injury.
Faried, a double-double catalyst for the Nuggets all season long, is expected to give the Warriors all sorts of problems inside, especially without Lee manning the interior.
In a battle between two high-scoring teams, Game 2 is going to be a defensive tussle. The physicality of the postseason will eventually take over, leading to a number of heated confrontations and technical fouls. In the end, the team with better composure and poise down the stretch will take the victory.
With their great home record in the regular-season, the Nuggets will likely win this one in another heart-pounding ball game on Tuesday.
