Now that 82 games have passed, of the 30 NBA teams, only 16 remain standing now that the dust has settled following the conclusion of the 2012-13 NBA regular season Wednesday.

Now the real journey, the road to the NBA championship, begins as the NBA playoffs kick off on Saturday.

The Utah Jazz saw their season end on Wednesday after a 86-70 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, which automatically eliminated them from playoff contention. Meanwhile the L.A. Lakers pulled out a 99-95 thriller over the Houston Rockets in overtime, the victory having major playoff-shifting implications for both teams.

With the Lakers win and the Jazz loss, the Lakers, who were struggling to hold onto the eighth seed, now move into the seventh seed for a first round date with longtime playoff nemesis, the San Antonio Spurs. And the Rockets, who were vying for the sixth seed, now slide down to the No.8 seed for a first round match-up pitting James Harden and Jeremy Lin's team against the Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder, led by MVP candidate Kevin Durant and All-Star Russell Westbrook.

Ty Lawson and the No.3 seeded Denver Nuggets will be meeting Stephen Curry, All-Star David Lee and No.6-seeded Golden State Warriors in the first round while the fourth-seeded L.A. Clippers will take All-Stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin's acrobatic, high-flying "Lob City" act against the staunch defense of Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and the No.5-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.

In the East, the Atlanta Hawks' 98-92 loss to the Atlantic Division champion New York Knicks leaves them locked in the sixth seed for a matchup with All-Star Paul George, Roy Hibbert and the Central Division champion Indiana Pacers. Their loss also guaranteed that the Chicago Bulls would have their first round battle with the up-and-coming Brooklyn Nets, led by All-Star Brook Lopez and Deron Williams.

The No.2-seeded Knicks--expected to have NBA scoring champion Carmelo Anthony along with All-Star Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith active and healthy--will be dueling with their Atlantic Division archrivals Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and the No.7-seeded Boston Celtics, when the first game of the series begins Saturday in New York, while the series shifts back to Boston next week in what is sure to be an emotional game after the Boston Marathon bombings that occurred earlier this week.

And the No.1 East seed, the NBA world champion Miami Heat, look to start their bid to repeat as champions, but they will first have to pit Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh against the youth and athleticism of Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis and the No.8-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

Latinos Post breaks down the game times and TV schedules for each of the first round NBA playoff series set to begin this weekend:
