Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time has been one of the most popular mobile games of the year, and on iOS devices alone the game has been downloaded over 25 million times. Now, the number of downloads for the free-to-play game is expected to skyrocket again—Plants vs. Zombies 2 is now available on Android devices through the Google Play store.

The game will have all the same features as the Apple version, including an in-game store where players can buy special gameplay boosts and specialty plants that can help players defeat the waves of zombies that will attack them. However, the game can be completed without spending a single penny, making the game a must-download for those looking for the next big Android game.

The story of the game follows the adventures of Crazy Dave, who uses his time traveling RV to try and go back in time and re-eat a taco he found particularly delicious (yes that is indeed the plot of the game). Players will travel to different worlds based on Ancient Egypt, Pirates, and the Wild West and fight off wave upon wave of zombies using their plants. Users can also use special powerups to smash and throw zombies themselves using the touchscreen on their device and special currency in the game.

While Plants vs. Zombies 2 has been a smash success for developer Popcap and publisher EA, there has been some controversy concerning the timing of the Android version of the game. There have been reports that EA Labels president Frank Gibeau stated that "Apple gave us a truckload of money" to delay the release date of the Android Plants vs Zombies 2. This claim has been refuted by Apple, but it is curious why the Apple version of the game was released in August and the Android version was launched on Oct. 24.

Despite the delay for the launch of the Android version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, it does not matter now that the game is available. The game started a soft launch in certain international markets, but now the game is available worldwide. Now, Popcap and EA Games can work on the console game Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, as well as new worlds for Plants vs. Zombies 2.
