Sony Xperia Z2, Z1 Mini Specs Leaked, No Price Given, Release Date Rumored for CES 2014

Two new leaks have revealed potential new details about the forthcoming successors to the recently revealed Sony Xperia Z1, including a mini version of the device as well as a full-blown successor to the smartphone, currently called the Z2.

The newest leak concerning the Xperia Z1 Mini, aka the Honami Mini, was released by the Chinese website CNMO. Translated by Geeky Gadgets, CNMO's report revealed that the Z1 Mini will have a 4.3-inch display, but failed to mention the device's resolution. In addition, the leak shows that the smartphone will have a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Z1 Mini will have the 20.7-megapixel camera with the Sony G Lens featured on the original Z1, giving the Mini an impressive camera. The device will have 8GB of internal memory for storing those photos or other programs, with a microSD card slot available for expanding the memory. According to CNMO's leak, the device will include a 2,400 mAh battery and utilize Android 4.3 as its operating system. No release date was provided, but CNMO suggested that the device could be shown at CES 2014.

While the Xperia Z1 Mini is getting new details, the eventual successor to the original Z1, the Xperia Z2, has been given new life thanks to an anonymous tipster who provided AndroidSAS with some interesting facts about the device. The Xperia Z2, also nicknamed Avatar, will have one of the best displays available. The leak states that the device will have a 5.5-inch IGZO Triluminos display with a 540 ppi pixel density, which would put it above the industry standard. The device is also rumored to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 chipset with 3Gb of RAM with a 3500mAh battery. The smartphone is also rumored to receive Android 4.4 KitKat as its operating system. Much like the Z1 Mini, the Z2 is expected to be introduced at CES 2014.

While these leaks may not be accurate, as they don't come directly from Sony, they do offer an intriguing glimpse into want tech fans may expect from the Xperia lineup in 2014.
