The long rumored Sony Xperia i1 Honami, now referred to as the Xperia Z1, is expected to be revealed to the public after months of speculation from fans, as well as months of leaks released, concerning the device. Today at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany, Sony will show off the new smartphone, and finally put to rest several rumors that have come out about the device. For those interested in watching the livestream, they can do so right here, in addition to watching it in the embedded video player below.
The Sony Xperia (Honami) Z1 has been often discussed and rumored about, thanks in part to the various photos that have been released both by unofficial sources as well as from Sony itself. The device's main feature that has often been shown off in these photos is the camera, which is a 20.7 megapixel camera with a G Lens, f/2.0 aperture and 5 mm focal length. This makes the camera that will come with the device much more powerful than many other smartphone cameras, and Sony is sure to highlight this feature in the livestream as well. The photos taken with the camera will be displayed on a five inch Full HD display, if previous leaks are to be believed, and the device is rumored to have 4K support for ultra high definition photos and videos.
Sony will also most likely go into detail about the hardware that will power the Xperia (Honami) Z1. It has been rumored that the smartphone will have a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, with 16GB of internal memory available on the phone with room for expansion via a microSD card. Android 4.2 is the rumored operating system for the device. Of course, it is up to Sony to reveal if these specs are indeed accurate, but if they are then the Sony Xperia (Honami) Z1 will have the power to match most other devices on the market currently.
In addition, many curious tech fans are wondering when the Xperia (Honami) Z1 will be released, and how much the device will cost. The Xperia Z1 is not a small budget device, to say the least, so if and when Sony reveals the price it will probably be on the high end of the scale. However, Sony may also reveal which carriers will provide the smartphone attached to their subscription plans, so that may help soften the blow.
Look out for more on the Honami/Z1 as the IFA conference goes forward and the Honami/Z1 is officially revealed.
