A previous report had indicated that the Xbox One may be released on November 8, one week before the launch of the PlayStation 4, but now it appears that is not the case. In addition, Microsoft has given gamers a hint that they will have some sort of presence at PAX Prime this weekend.

Originally, a leaked email allegedly from a source who works for a marketing company that works for Wal-Mart showed all the midnight release events the company is planning, which showed that the big box chain was preparing a midnight launch for the Xbox One on November 8. However, Kotaku is now reporting that a source close to Microsoft stated that the console will not be appearing on that date, leaving gamers guessing again as to when they can expect the Xbox One. With November 8 crossed off the board, it leaves it open that the Xbox One could arrive earlier in the month, or coming out close to Thanksgiving so take advantage of Black Friday shopping. One date that can also be crossed out is November 15, as Microsoft will definitely want to put a buffer between the launch of their console and Sony's next gen device.

In addition, Microsoft will be bringing several titles to PAX Prime, which runs from August 30-September 2. Microsoft's own Major Nelson revealed in his blog that the company will have several titles available for gamers to check out over the weekend, including Ryse: Son of Rome, Killer Instinct, Battlefield 4, and Forza Motorsport 5. Major Nelson also hinted that there would be surprises in store for fans at the event, though he did not say what sort of surprise Microsoft will have at the event. While some gamers may hope that Microsoft will reveal the release date for the device at PAX Prime, at this point Microsoft will most likely hold a one-off press conference to announce the news now that Gamescom is over with and the Xbox has not had a big enough presence in Japan to justify such as big announcement happening at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Perhaps Microsoft will reveal a new IP at the event, or even a new exclusive coming to the Xbox One. Either way, PAX Prime will be an event to watch this coming weekend.

Look out for more PAX Prime and Xbox One news as PAX Prime begins and Microsoft prepares to launch their next-gen console.
