Halo 4 News: Game of the Year Edition Confirmed by Microsoft

Halo 4 has been a big success for 343 Industries, who took over the series from Bungie and are in charge of delivering a new trilogy of games for the beloved franchise. While Halo 5 has been hinted at in the past, 343 and Microsoft are preparing to give gamers a Game of the Year Edition of Halo 4 in the near future. 

This news comes from IGN, who initially leaked a photo of the Halo 4 Game of the Year Edition of the game. The new edition of Halo 4 would include Spartan Ops Season One, The War Games DLC, the Champions Bundle, and the content previously available as preorder bonuses or as part of the Limited Edition version of the game. All this content is listed as being available for $49.99. Microsoft later confirmed that the new version of Halo 4 is coming soon, and that they will release more details about the package later this week at the Halo Global Championship Finals:

"A Game of the Year Edition of Halo 4 will be offered this October, offering tremendous value for fans who want to enjoy one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2012, and additional DLC all in one place. We will have more details to share during the live stream of the Halo Global Championship Finals this Sunday."

It is not a surprise that Halo 4 is getting a Game of the Year Edition, as the game has proven to be quite popular with critics and fans of the series. The game continued the huge popularity the series has enjoyed, despite the switchover from Bungie to 343 Industries. In addition to putting out Halo 4, recently a new Halo spinoff for Microsoft Windows 8 and the Smart Glass tablet, Halo Spartan Assault, was also released, giving players an opportunity to unlock special Halo 4 content by completing levels in the game.

Perhaps, with the release of Halo 4: Game of the Year Edition, 343 Industries will begin hinting more strongly at Halo 5, which was briefly teased at E3, only to all but disappear in the months that followed. The game is expect in 2014, so gamers will most likely hear about the game sooner rather than later. After all, Microsoft confirmed that 343 Industries is going to create a new trilogy of games in the Halo universe, so the game will be coming one way or the other.
