"Halo 4" has been a smash success for 343 Industries as gamers continued to flock to the series despite the transition from original developer Bungie to the new studio.

Now dedicated players of the game can test how good they really are at "Halo 4" and its multiplayer option in a global tournament sponsored by 343 Industries where half a million dollars is at stake.

Eurogamer is reporting that the summer-long tournament will start at the Rooster Teeth Expo on July 5, with the Xbox Live portion of the tournament starting July 15.

These qualifying rounds will continue until the two day finals held in Seattle August 31-September 1. From the Xbox Live tournaments and various Live Events 26 finalists will be chosen for an all expense paid trip to the finals. The winner of that final tournament will win a cool two hundred thousand dollars, a nice chunk of change for playing a game. 343 Industries will be providing the prize money themselves. Anyone interested in signing up for the Halo 4 tournament can do so right here.

While many gamers have been focused on the announcement of the new Halo game at E3, that game will not appear until 2014, so Halo 4 still has a large amount of life left in it. The game has garnered many accolades during it's run, and the series continues to have a huge following as the flagship Xbox 360 exclusive. It will be interesting to see the tournament players in action, and see some high stakes Halo multiplayer with a six figure playoff on the line.

Halo recently made the news when Microsoft employees, along with Master Chief and a replica Warthog vehicle, marched in the Seattle Pride Parade. Master Chief marching in the parade was a sight to see, to say the least.
