343 Industries is busy with many different projects concerning the Halo franchise. In addition to developing Halo 5 for a 2014 release, the company is preparing a tournament for Halo 4, in which $500,000 in prize money is at stake. So it should come as no surprise that for the next DLC bundle for Halo 4, 343 Industries has partnered with developer Certain Affinity to bring gamers the Champions DLC package.
The DLC bundle consists of three separate packs, which can be bought separately or together for 800 Microsoft points, and will be available on Aug. 20, according to Gamestop. The three individual DLC packs consist of the Steel Skin pack, Bullseye pack, and Infinity Armor pack, and all together they add 18 brand-new items to the game. The Steel Skin pack will give the game's weapons a brand new steampunk aesthetic, no matter if if the weapon is UNSC, Covenant, or Forerunner. The Infinity Armor pack includes a single new legendary Spartan Armor for the game, but does not detail what it will look like. These two packs are both available separately for 240 Microsoft Points each.
Finally, the Bullseye pack offers the most content of the new DLC packs, and is priced separately for 480 Microsoft Points. The pack will offer two new multiplayer maps for gamers to use, as well as a new game mode called Ricochet, which is a new take on gravball. Finally, the Bullseye pack also will include a new Spartan armor, which will be sports-themed.
Certain Affinity has developed DLC for Halo games in the past. For Halo 2 they created the Blastacular map pack, as well as the Defiant map pack for Halo: Reach. It will be interesting to see how fans take to this new DLC, and if the new armors take off in comparison to the customizable armor that users can create for the game.
