Lolo Jones is the 100 m hurdler who will be competing in late June to make it to the Olympics in London this summer.
For many of her close acquaintances, she may be known simply as Lori Jones or "Lolo", her nickname, but for most of the world she is known as a virgin athlete.
A documentary about Jones' life as well as an interview were aired this week by HBO and ESPN and as a result, millions of people came to know her story over night.
During the shows, Jones shares about her various struggles in life including growing up in a financially-struggling family as well as the obstacles she found in her career. However, the struggle that drew the greatest attention from the tele-audience was her experience in struggling with sex, or lack thereof.
Jones is a 29-year-old virgin that confesses abstinences has been the hardest thing ever, even harder than making it to the Olympics.
People were able to learn various details of her non-sex life through things she said such as, "Please understand this journey has been hard...It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college has been trying to stay a virgin for marriage. I've been tempted; I've had plenty of opportunities."
Jones continued on saying that at some point in her career, men told her that having sex would make her run faster.
The details she gave regarding her sexuality were quickly overblown by the internet and now Jones may be wondering how she ever earned this unintented(?) celibate profile.
In the end, what counts is that Jones is more than a virgin. She's a hurdler, an Olympian, a track and field champion, and very possibly a London 2012 Olympic Gold medalist.
And not to mention, a normal 29-year-old female, judging by the following pictures:
