There's nothing more annoying than being ready to watch a movie and finding out it's not available in your country. Well, maybe going to bed after a hard day and just when you were getting all comfy, you realize you forgot to turn off the lights.

Fortunately, unblocking The Wolf of Wall Street doesn't require getting out of bed or getting off the couch. Firstly, you need to find out where to stream it. After this, you can use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to unblock the movie.

But why do you even have to go through this process? Why isn't Netflix just streaming The Wolf of Wall Street in your country?

Well, there might be a few reasons for that, so here are a few possible answers:

1. Someone Else Bought the Rights to Show the Movie

And by someone else, we mean Netflix's competitors (HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, or even national broadcasters). So anyone who buys the streaming rights holds them until the contract expires.

If Netflix were to stream The Wolf of Wall Street anyway, they would get sued for it. So they wait for the t contract to expire and try to buy the streaming rights after.

2. The Movie Doesn't Have a High Rating

The Wolf of Wall Street has an IMDB score of 8.2/10. If we do the math, more than 130,000 out of 1 million people believed that this movie deserved a 6-star rating or below. So there's a solid chance that 2 out of 10 people won't like the movie.

In the end, streaming entertainment is still a business. If Netflix decides that the movie is not going to bring any profit, there's no point in buying the streaming rights.

3. Cultural Differences around the World

If you're living in the US, there might be too many movies centered around:

  • High school drama and college parties.

  • She, going back to her small town for Christmas and falling in love with someone.

  • Yet another apocalypse (tsunami, meteors, sun burning out) where the US is destroyed.

  • Successful investors living a hedonistic life in New York.

Just like eating the same food again and again, watching the same Hollywood plots might get boring at some point. As a result, people might not be that interested in seeing them and would prefer something a bit different - like Squid Game.

Similarly, people from other countries might get bored with watching movies shot in their country. So they'd be more interested in seeing something different, like a movie shot in New York.

All in all, everything is based on the audience's preferences and the profit Netflix can make.

How Can I Unblock The Wolf of Wall Street?

One of the most popular choices for unblocking any Netflix movie around the world is to use a VPN.

Once you've found out where The Wolf of Wall Street is available, it's time to find a good VPN provider. Usually, any top VPN providers like NordVPN, CyberGhost VPN, ExpressVPN, or PrivateVPN are good options.

Once you've decided which VPN provider to use, all you have to do is:

  • Download the VPN app and install it on your device.

  • Choose a VPN server to connect to (but make sure you choose a country where The Wolf of Wall Street is already streaming).

  • Log in to your Netflix account.

That's all - this should take you less than 5 minutes, and you're ready to watch any movie you want.

The best part is that, besides hiding your IP address, a VPN also encrypts your traffic. This way, if you're watching too many movies on Netflix, your internet service provider can't see what websites you're spending too much time on. So they can't slow down your internet speeds when you're on Netflix.

Are the VPN Servers Really Located in All Those Countries?

This depends on the VPN provider. However, in many cases that's true - the VPN servers are physically located in the countries where they say they are.

However, there are cases where VPN providers choose to use virtual locations. So you still get an IP address from the country you want to connect to, but the physical VPN server is in another country.

This happens when it's too difficult for the VPN provider to host physical servers in those locations. And that's because it's far more complicated to host VPN servers in restrictive countries (like Russia or China) or in countries with poor internet infrastructure (Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Algeria).

Is There a Difference Between a Free VPN and a Paid VPN?

Yes, the difference in service quality is huge.

Everything we've talked about so far costs money:

  • Renting or buying servers

  • Regular IP refreshes

  • User-friendly apps with no bugs

  • Constantly optimized features

It's only natural for someone to ask for money in return for these things.

That's why even free VPNs aren't exactly... free. More or less, they have the same costs as a normal VPN, so they need to make money one way or another. How do they do it? Here are a few examples:

  1. Their free plans offer low-quality services, incentivizing their clients to upgrade to paid plans.

  2. They sell your data for profit.

  3. They really don't ask for money but the quality is simply bad.

What's more, because free VPNs can't afford to pay good developers, they can't offer strong encryption. Meaning that the ISP can see what you're doing online so they can slow down your internet speeds when you're accessing Netflix.

So if you value your privacy and don't want to experience problems with your VPN apps, opting for a paid VPN will save you from a lot of troubles.
