The first teaser trailer of DC's "Legends of Tomorrow," which will be out January 2016, has been released by The CW.

Check out the first Legends of Tomorrow" trailer below.

The much-anticipated series features a time-traveling superhero team-up led by Rip Hunter, and is a spinoff of the wildly successful The Flash and Arrow, both included in the team, according to Comicbook.com.

The official "Legends of Tomorrow" synopsis reads:

"When heroes alone are not enough ... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat, unlike anything they have ever known?"

According to Den of Geek, Executive Producer Greg Berlanti told Variety that "Legends of Tomorrow" is comparable to old Western shows, touching on some important highlights in Western cinema.

"We have a lot of lone gunmen and sheriffs in town, and this one is very much an ode to things like "The Magnificent Seven" or those great heist pics like "Ocean's Eleven" where you get all of those colors at the same time," Berlanti said.

The "Legends of Tomorrow" core cast are Brandon Routh (the Atom), leading the rest of the superhero team including Caity Lotz (White Canary), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave), Ciara Renee (Hawkgirl), Falk Hentschel (Hawkman), Victor Garber and Franz Drameh (Firestorm). Meanwhile, Rip Hunter will be played by Arthur Darville.

Other cast and characters include the White Canary, whose role hasn't been specified much. This leaves room for several plot changes and twists for the character.

Ciara Renee (Kendra "Hawkgirl" Saunders) will also star. Of course there's also Hawkman, to be played by Falk Hentschel.

Jay Jackson will be portrayed by Franz Drameh. He will reportedly form Firestorm's second half with Victor Garber's Martin Stein.

The big villain in "Legends of Tomorrow," Vandal Savage, will be played by Casper Crump. Akin to all of the show's characters, Savage first be featured in "The Flash/Arrow" crossover.

Another new character introduced in the series is Dr. Aldus Boardman, to be played by Paul Francis James. Boardman is reported to be a St. Roch University professor teaching Classics, who has been devoted to finding the story of Hawkgirl and Hawkman and their connection to Vandal Savage.

Also known to the DC Comics world as the Doom Patrol's Negative Woman, Valentina Vostok will be played by Stephanie Corneliussen.

"Legends of Tomorrow" is slated for release January 21, 2016 at 8 p.m.
