The Christopher Nolan thriller "Memento" has been confirmed to receive a reboot.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, AMBI Pictures, which is run by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi, will be financing and producing the reboot.

The original movie was a box office hit, and it skyrocketed Nolan's career to where it is today. However, does the movie actually need a reboot?

For those who are not familiar with the film, "Memento" debuted back in 2000 and starred Guy Pearce as Leonard. Leonard is a normal guy except for one thing, he suffers from a rare condition called anterograde amnesia. Hence, he cannot form new memories.

The twist of the story is that Leonard is actually trying to find the killer of his wife and the story is presented as two different sequences of scenes. The first sequence is a series of black and white scenes which are shown in a chronological order. However, there is another set of scenes which are in color. These are then shown in a backward order.

It is not until the end of the film where both sequences finally match up and show what actually happened to Leonard and the rest of the cast.

Seeing the complicated plot, Nolan received a lot of backlash for the announcement.

How is the team for the reboot going to retell the story? Will they be trying to redo the style of the original film? It seems that there are more questions than answers at this point.

Screen Rant reports that the announcement for the "Memento" reboot was made after AMBI Pictures secured the acquisition of Exclusive Media Group's film library. EMG's film library includes about 400 films including several hit films such as "Donnie Darko," "Mel Gibson's Apocolypto," and "Rush."

AMBI co-head Andrea Iervolino stated that acquiring EMG's film library and rebooting "Memento" is the first step in growing the AMBI brand. Iervolino states that having such a large variety of films that also cover several genres will allow AMBI to reach more viewers who are consuming more information than ever before.

Currently, there is no news on who will be starring in the film or about any release date.
