The character of Black Panther has long been confirmed to appear in the next Marvel Studios movie "Captain America: Civil War." However, fans of the character are not entirely sure if he will have a heroic or villainous role in the movie.
According to Heroic Hollywood, there will be more than one person taking up the mantle of the Black Panther in "Civil War." The first Black Panther will be T'Chaka who is the father of the current Black Panter, T'Challa. However, in the comic books, T'Chaka's brother S'yan takes over his father's mantle before being stripped off it because of his misdeeds.
So, how does this transfer into the upcoming movie?
Comic Book Movie reports that T'Chaka is confirmed to be one of the casualties of the movie and if the succession follows the comics, S'yan will be the first to take his father's place. This will mean that the character of the Black Panther will take a rather villainous nature to it.
Other news that reveal the possibility of Black Panther not being on the side of Captain America is that the character is supposedly on the hunt to find the Winter Solider, aka Bucky Barnes who is the best friend of Steve Rogers. Coming Soon has claimed that the Winter Solider will end up being on the team of Captain America as they square off against Iron Man's team. So even if T'Challa does become the next Black Panther, this could mean that he would be more like the Winter Solider character in the previous Captain America movie - someone who is not necessarily a bad character but one with his own agenda.
It has been confirmed that Chadwick Boseman will play T'Challa / Black Panther. Boseman is best known for his work as iconic African-American figures. He played the first African-American Major League Baseball player, Jackie Robinson, in the movie "42" as well as the funk superstar James Brown in "Get on Up."
Civil War will see a split in the Avengers with Captain America's team composed of Hawkeye, Falcon, Winter Solider, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man versus Iron Man's Team consisting of Black Widow, Vision, Spider-Man and War Machine. The film will be the first time that this many heroes will be in the same movie together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No word if the characters from the other Marvel projects like Daredevil or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will make appearances in the film.
"Captain America: Civil War" is set to be released on May 6, 2016.
