As WrestleMania 31 draws closer, there are talks that UFC stars Chael Sonnen and Ronda Rousey may make an appearance.

MMA News reported that Jim Ross, who previously worked with Sonnen for the BattleGrounds MMA pay-per-view broadcast team, pondered about how both UFC fighters may be part of the biggest event in the WWE.

WrestlingInc reported that during Sonnen's interview on TSN's "Off The Record", Chael mentioned that he and Wanderlei Silva were invited by WWE to talk business. WWE eventually dismissed the claim, saying, "There has been no invitation from WWE for Chael Sonnen to attend WrestleMania."

Ross still believes that Sonnen and the women's undefeated bantamweight champion would be perfect for it.

Ross wrote a blog on his website JRsBarbq.com that according to Sonnen's "Off The Record" interview, he was meeting with WWE officials soon. Ross wrote that if Sonnen's claim is true, he would be a natural for the WWE because he "gets it" and is a fan of the business, aside from being in excellent shape and being a great performer.

MMA Mania wrote that Sonnen has been a big fan of WWE for years, comparing both UFC and WWE fighters. Wanderlei Silva also has the right look that would make him an exciting WWE Superstar.

If Sonnen would join WWE, he would be the organization's second best talker after Paul Heyman. He shared his excitement over the news.

Ross continued to write that the top attraction from MMA would be Ronda Rousey, who is a box office star and has the charisma. The Four Horsewomen of MMA are all wrestling fans so it would be easy to invite them to bring the WWE a lot of publicity.

In the meantime, the MMA-WWE connection is still mere speculation but Ross wrote that he is certain Rousey and her girls would be a great spectacle for WrestleMania 31. The addition of star power would definitely help the event. Ross also suggested a mixed tag match, pairing Rousey to Rowdy Roddy Piper versus Ric Flair and Charlotte.

The concept of linking MMA and WWE is not new. Brock Lesnar has gone from WWE to UFC to WWE again, grabbing heavyweight titles in the process. CM Punk is set to make his debut in the Octagon sometime in 2015.
