Super Bowl weekend is that time of the year where the best ads battle it out with other commercials for viewers' attention (and, hopefully, retention).

Supercell, developer and publisher of "Clash of Clans," enlisted Hollywood A-lister and "Taken 3" star Liam Neeson's help in making one memorable and fun ad that people will talk about and remember. And it looks like their strategy worked.

"Liam Neeson transformed what could have been an ordinary mobile game ad into a Super Bowl great," observed Business Insider.

Social media users also expressed their pleasure with the ad, saying that it was a good use of celebrity.

"#superbowlcommercials loved the Liam neeson commercial. Best celeb use yet," tweeted user Kirsten Cutshall.

"So happy Liam Neeson was on that #ClashOfClans commercial," Ernie Luis tweeted.

Forbes contributor Paul Tassi also acknowledged the entertainment value of the ad, saying that it trumped "Game of War's" TV spot.

"While supermodel Upton donning battle armor was certainly eye-catching, it's Neeson's Taken-inspired 'Revenge' ad that was the more memorable spot, and one of the better commercials of the night, as it turns out," he wrote.

It helped that the ad had cinematic quality, exuding that edge-of-your-seat feel of "Taken." One has to admit the actor's gravelly voice gave his participation in the ad just the right gravitas to balance the humor in mobile ad commercial and make it riveting.

"The Irish actor is seen in a bakery looking over the 'Clash Of Clans' game on his mobile device," MailOnline noted. "The 62-year-old gave a deadpan delivery mocking himself as a gamer who wants to get even."

"I don't know you 'Big Buffet Boy 25,'" he was heard saying when he realized his game was ruined by the opponent in question. "But if you think you can humiliate me and take my gold, think again. I'm coming at you with lots of barbarians and dragons."

"I can't wait to destroy your village," he continued, still staring at the screen of his mobile device. "You will beg for mercy, but you will get no mercy. I will have my revenge."

His haunting monologue was interrupted by the shop's staff, who mispronounced his name.

"I have a scone for Lie-am," the clerk said, as noted by MailOnline.

The Oscar-nominated star calmly took his order and quipped: "It's Lee-am."

"You will regret the day you crossed 'Angry Neeson 52," he ominously declared in his signature voice, pressing the "revenge" button as he did so.
